Cumin and undeclared peanut
Amelia isn’t allergic to peanuts anymore. Otherwise I would be freaking out over this massive recall of products that may have peanut-containing cumin. Being able to read labels and trust that a food is allergen-free is the only way food allergic individuals can stay safe and protect their health. When the labels are wrong it’s terrifying, and potentially very dangerous. This article states that there have been “428 reports of ‘adverse events’ related to undeclared allergens between January 2012 and December 2014, including reports of three deaths,” and at least seven people reporting reactions from products from this recent round of cumin-containing items. Scary.
