Eleanor & Park, the movie
What’s great about the news that Rainbow Rowell’s Eleanor & Park will be made into a film, scheduled to start shooting in 2015?
1. More people will read this excellent book.
2. We’ll get a chance to see atypical, non-Hollywood casting here. As Rowell puts it, “There are not established actors who could play these roles, I don’t think. I don’t think they’re unusual characters in life — I think there are a lot of people like Eleanor and Park — but they are unusual people to be in movies and to star in movies. There’s not a lot of chubby redheads and 16-year-old Korean guys who star in movies.”
3. Rowell herself will get to write the screenplay, so we’ll have a chance to see what this impressive writer does with a brand-new medium.
4. Maybe this means a Fangirl film is next!
