Post-election reading
I wish I knew what to write. To say I’m fearful and upset about the results of the 2016 Presidential election is putting it mildly. Right now, I’m at a loss, sad, and angry, but that’s not helpful, is it? Not if that is all I do.
I’m hearing about schoolchildren bullying each other over the color of their skin and their gender. I’m hoping these are small, tiny blips, but even so, they’re horrific. One is too many. It’s on all of us now to speak up and say something if we see bullying, racism, discrimination, and sexism flare up, whether in the name of Trump or anyone else. For those around middle grade readers, here are some books, courtesy of Middle School Mob, that teach tolerance.
